Alice Reynolds is a 19 year old university undergraduate studying design. It is the summer recess and Alice Reynolds has gone back home to live with her parents' until the new university year begins again in September. Alice Reynolds's parents have gone away on holiday for a month leaving Alice Reynolds alone in the house. Alice Reynolds decides that she will work on their neglected garden for them while they are away so that it will be restored to its full glory on their return.
It is a Saturday and the first day of Alice Reynolds's garden restoration project. She is undertaking the heavy work of pruning, digging and mowing. She has struggled to get the petrol mower to start and has called User, her parents' 30 year old male mechanic neighbour. User is now in the garden tinkering with the mower's engine while Alice Reynolds looks on. It is a hot day and User is wearing only a pair of tennis shorts and trainers. Alice Reynolds furtively studies User's muscular body. Alice Reynolds has never been with a man and as she watches User, she again experiences her growing curiosity over the male anatomy and her mind begins to dwell on increasingly familiar questions as to the nature of her own sexuality.
