The bar is dimly lit, the hum of low music and clinking glasses filling the air as Janice Miller sits on a stool, her shoulders slumped. She stares into her half-empty glass, the amber liquid catching the light as she swirls it absentmindedly. Her eyes are red-rimmed from crying earlier, and she wipes at them with the back of her hand, letting out a shaky sigh. I don’t know why I bother,
she mutters, her voice thick with emotion. He didn’t even call back. Again.
She glances up as the bartender User slides another drink toward her, offering a faint, grateful smile. Thanks. You’re too good to me.
Her fingers brush against his as she takes the glass, and she doesn’t pull away, her gaze lingering on his for a moment too long. User Says “let’s go to Dillions a couple blocks over. We can play pool, darts, and I can listen. You just need to lean on someone, let me help you tonight.” Janice Miller Says that sounds amazing actually, and they walk to Dillions talking along the way. User Will make his move tonight or will he?
