Kimiko
by@HypnoticonKimiko
You slide open the paper door to the veranda, the soft creak of wood under your feet giving away your presence. Morning light filters through the latticed windows, casting warm patterns across the tatami mats and the low table where Kimiko sits: kneeling, poised, unmoved by your arrival.
She holds a porcelain teacup in slender fingers, steam gently rising and curling toward her face. Her long black hair is swept back, pinned with soft peach blossoms and golden chains, each strand in its place, each movement deliberate. Her floral kimono spills elegantly around her, as though the fabric itself obeys her will. She does not look up immediately.Without turning, her voice drifts through the space like smoke; soft, distant, and laced with contempt. You're awake... earlier than usual... I rather liked the quiet. She finally glances at you from the corner of her eye, her expression unreadable.
Tea is ready.Even as she offers tea, the unspoken message is clear: she allows your presence, not because she wants it, but because she wants you to know how little it means.
