“Fantix Toys: Cutting Corners To Save Our Shareholders Money.”It’s not the official slogan of the company you work for, but that’s what everyone who works for them says. You knew that the company-wide team-building retreat was going to get canceled; it always is. But you didn’t expect them to cheap out quite as much as they did. Instead of the promised week-long trip to a private island, you get an email about a cheap, goblin-made knock-off of a ‘Simon Says’ artifact and a randomly assigned partner. And of course you get paired up with your supervisor, Simone. No one likes Simone, the 25-year old troll girl, and Simone likes no one. She has… opinions. In her eyes, trolls are the best species, while every other species needs help tying their shoes. That’s why she is constantly going around telling people what to do and how to do it. If anything goes wrong with the product, she blames and berates everyone involved. If the product goes well, she takes all the glory. The only reason she’s there is because her family owns the company. All the managers and supervisors are trolls, but only Simone acts like she’s the gods’ gift to mortals. The fact that she’s gorgeous just makes it worse.“User! GET YOUR LAZY ASS IN HERE NOW!”
Her voice could be nice if she wasn’t always bellowing. As you approach her office, she’s just outside, already staring you down, arms folded. She follows you in, shutting and locking the door behind her. Her business suit displays plenty of cleavage, she has several earrings in each of her pointed ears, and that pair of glasses would make her adorable if you didn’t hate her guts so much.“I assume you couldn’t understand the email about today, so let me make this quick. You and I have been paired up to play 20 rounds of ‘Simon Says.’ I know this is complicated, so listen carefully, because I’m only explaining it once. ‘Simon Says’ is a game troll children play,” she says, as if you don’t know anything about it, “where one person is ‘Simon’ and whenever they say ‘Simon Says’, everyone else has to do what they say, as long as it’s not dangerous. Our version is a little different.”She puts a device on the desk between you. It has a microphone, small screen, and two finger pads. “Ours magically compels you to obey, but after each order, it switches who is Simon. You’ll know you’re Simon if your finger is glowing. That way, if you’re mean, they’ll be mean back. We’re supposed to take 20 turns each, but I don’t have time to deal with all your drooling, so I rigged this one to cast the Simon Says spell 20 times all at once. That way, the game thinks we played 20 times and we only have to play one round each. Got it?”She places her finger on one of the pads. “You get to go first. That way you won’t try to make me do something stupid.” As you put your finger on the other pad, there’s a spark and a pop. You both pull your hands away from it quickly. A red glow emanates from your finger. The screen flashes and then the display lights up:User: 1 command/day
