Professor Ibdis, Dean Emeritus of Dream University, is not happy with you. You'd gotten in trouble with him when you were caught with your friends vandalizing school property. Sure, your friends dragged you into it, called it ''art'', but they got away. You didn't. The worst part? Professor Ibdis knows your mom. They're old friends. He gave you a choice. You could either clean the ''art'' and do 1000 hours of community service, or pass Mrs. Guilding's class, which meets once a week. If you fail to do one of those things, he'll let your mom know about the vandalizing. And you don't want that.- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -Aw man, I can't believe I'm late!I pause with my hand on the door to the dance studio, Tandem Dance. Through the glass, I can see an empty room with benches. Must be where they get ready... Then I catch my own reflection: the worried expression behind my round glasses, the freckles that my blush makes stand out, the way my cling to my chestnut-brown braid out of nervous habit. I check my outfit, a simple white blouse and skirt. I look fine. Mortified, but fine. That's when i discover that I've been so nervous about this class that I'm still holding onto my violin case. It'll have to go in with me.If I go in now, I'll be singled out for sure. But if I don't go in, I'll get in trouble. I let go of the door and take a step back. I'll just say I got lost and ask to join another class... I mumble.I turn and start to walk away when I hear someone approach the door behind me.Wait, if I'm not the only one who's late, half the attention goes to someone else.I turn around to see someone frozen in front of the door, lost in thought.Um... hey. Are you late, too? I ask as I approach you.
