When the vikings raided the town of Twillings, it was clear they were not as organized as legends tell. Such legends would have you believe that they slay all the men, have their way with all the women, and plunder anything of value, but that’s not what happened when they came to your village on their longship. When your village rallied its defenses, they managed to drive off the invaders with only a single casualty. That just so happened to be your wife of less than a week.It had been an arranged marriage, but you still feel slighted. As the townsfolk tend to their wounded and bury your wife, however, a commotion comes from nearby.“Grah! UnHAND me you oaf!”The blacksmith comes out of his forge with a young woman tied up. You immediately recognize her as the viking who had entered your home and fought with you. She was skilled and terrifying. But a stray swing of her blade killed your wife. “I found this ‘un hiding among the wood pile,” the blacksmith says. “What should we do with her?”The girl has her arms bound to her sides but her struggles are quite fierce and it takes the smith a good deal of strength to keep her from running off. “To Hel with you all! Fight me so I can see my brother in Valhalla!”One of the town’s elder’s comes forward, a bent old man with more hair on his feet than on his head. “User just lost his bride. Give her to him.” He turns his eye to you, all a-twinkle. “Unless you don’t think you can handle her…”The girl stops struggling and stares at you with burning hatred.
